All of the sudden there seems to be a large number of restaurants and bars in Tampa Bay reporting cases of Coronavirus among their staff members. Some are closing and some are not.
This is occurring at the same time as Florida coronavirus cases are spiking and fears of a shutdown are coming back into play. Governor DeSantis has swore there will be no shutdowns and this is the “new normal”.
Hillsborough County and Pinellas County leaders seem to be racing to come up with a plan to help slow down the rise in cases to prevent an issue later in hospitals. Mayor Kriseman announced a mask order today for employees of St. Pete businesses and he said a local order for the public is in the works.
Here’s what I’ve seen so far:

Earlier this afternoon, we at The Galley learned that a few of our staffers have tested positive for COVID-19. All those exhibiting any symptoms were told to immediately see a doctor and obtain a test. We have quarantined those staffers for the recommend 14 days. However, due to these recent events, the explosion of cases here in Downtown St. Pete, and out of an abundance of caution, we are shutting down The Galley temporarily. We will re-open when we are able to test all of our employees, not just those whom have experienced symptoms of the Novel Coronavirus. We believe we are doing the right thing in the interest of public health at this time and will use these extra time to further deep clean and professionally sanitize our space. We have been overjoyed to see all of your smiles & overwhelmed with all the love and support our beloved home of St. Pete has shared with us during this strange and unfortunate time. We’re just taking a little time-out, and will be back at it very soon. Thank you, god bless, and take care of yourselves! Help yourself be fit to fight the war inside against this nasty bug. ❤️

At TBBC we care about the safety and wellness of all of our patrons and staff. We also care about the trust you put in us both in the quality of our beer, but also us as a brand and family. With that said, a TBBC Ybor employee and a Westchase employee recently tested positive for COVID-19 and we want to let you all know the steps we are taking going forward. -The employees who tested positive will not be returning to work until the required quarantine period per CDC guidelines. -A professional cleaning crew following CDC recommendations will be brought in daily to deep clean both taprooms, and weekly to deep-clean and sanitize the taprooms. -All TBBC staff will be required to wear masks at all times. -All TBBC staff will be washing/sanitizing their hands after handling any utensils, dishes, or high-touch areas. -All staff will be washing their hands every hour on the hour and on the half-hour. -Distance between tables and parties will be further increased. -All tap handles, door handles, and other high-touch areas will be sanitized regularly and often. -Tables and chairs will be sanitized after each party. -We will continue to provide numerous sanitizing stations throughout the taprooms . -Contactless curbside pickup will continue to be offered at both locations. We want to continue being your favorite local hangout, a place where you can get a small feeling of normalcy for a bit. In order to do that we will have to adjust our hours to get both taprooms safely up to speed and ready to serve you safely per all CDC guidelines. Westchase // Opening at 3pm Ybor // Opening at 5pm *times subject to change We appreciate your patience with these measures that will keep our patrons and staff safe and healthy. 6/24/2020 This morning, we were informed that a GDVD employee tested positive for COVID-19. In light of this information, we have decided to temporarily close our take-out and delivery service to allow time for deep cleaning and employee testing. This employee self-quarantined and was tested within hours of exhibiting symptoms, and hasn’t been at work in over 8 days. Thankfully, this employee is in good spirits and only suffered mild fatigue and loss of sense of smell and taste, and should fully recover. At this point, all exposed employees are getting tested, and no other employees are showing symptoms of the virus. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak, we have taken swift precautions in order to continue to safely serve our community. We discontinued on-site service on 03/22/20, and have since implemented a completely contactless pick-up and delivery system to further minimize the risk of spread. During this time we’ve taken many precautionary measures including: requiring all staff to be masked and gloved during drop offs and deliveries, regular hand washing, sanitization, daily symptom check-ins, and temperature checks. When we feel comfortable reopening, we will continue these practices for the foreseeable future. The fact that the virus has affected us even though we’ve been very strictly following all guidelines has led us to the decision to close and regroup while we determine the safest steps moving forward. Thank you for your continued support – we miss you all but we love you more!

Hi everyone, As of today, Thursday, June 25th, one of our administrative, back of the house employees at Datz in South Tampa has tested positive for COVID-19. For your safety, we are closing our Tampa location this afternoon until tomorrow, for a professional sanitation crew to come in and disinfect the entire building. Once re-opening, we will continue with our diligent cleaning process and mandatory use of gloves and masks. We have been checking temperatures and screening employees prior to each shift, and as of this moment, no other staff members are exhibiting any symptoms. All employees are being encouraged to get tested immediately even if they present no symptoms. We apologize for the inconvenience and short notice. We remain committed to being completely transparent and will update everyone on any further developments. As always, the safety of our community and staff is our top priority. In the meantime, our Riverview and St. Pete locations remain open for service and we look forward to seeing you in South Tampa tomorrow!
