Since I was a kid I wanted to visit Tokyo and I finally had the chance in 2011 while studying abroad in South Korea for my 22nd birthday. I’ve been numerous times since then and these are recommendations for your next visit.

Hotels:

Restaurants:

  • EVERYONEs CAFE: If you’re looking for a brunch spot in Tokyo, this breakfast place next to Ueno Zoological Gardens close to Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum has excellent Japanese-style pancakes right outside Ueno Station. Recommend. Dining on the patio is my preference. 8-4 Uenokoen, Taito City, Tokyo 110-0007, Japan
  • Seafood Donburi Ginhachi Ginza
  • Joint Burger Ginza
  • La Cabina Shibuya:
  • ARTNIA Square-Enix

Bars:

  • LOST

Coffee Shops/Tea Shops/Bakeries:

  • Fuglen Tokyo Asakusa
  • % Arabica Tokyo Azabudai Hills B1: I am in LOVE with the coffee from % Arabica, you can really taste the attention to detail and they make a mean iced coffee. It’s located right near teamLab Borderless and a good stop for your caffeine fix before or after visiting. Japan, 〒105-0001 Tokyo, Minato City, Toranomon, 5 Chome−9−1 ガーデンプラザA B B1F
  • Tiphareth Coffee Roastery: If you’re staying out in Shinjuku, this is a great coffee shop that actually opens early (IYKYK) and has a nice selection of freshly roasted beans with pour overs available. The owner was there when I visited and friendly. Japan, 〒160-0004 Tokyo, Shinjuku City, Yotsuya, 2 Chome−11−18 磯合ビル 1F
  • JAHO Coffee Roaster
