TAMPA, FL – In honor of Black History Month, Ocean Prime Tampa is participating in Uncle Nearest’s HBCU Old Fashioned Challenge. The initiative is dedicated to raising funds for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

All month long, Ocean Prime locations across the country will be making Old Fashioned cocktails infused with Uncle Nearest 1884 blend, with one dollar from each beverage sold going towards this cause. That donation will then be matched by Uncle Nearest as part of the company’s goal to raise up to $1.4 million for HBCUs to provide one full in-state tuition scholarship to each of the accredited institutions.
“We are thrilled to partner with Uncle Nearest on this important endeavor to raise funds for Historically Black Colleges and Universities which have been widely underfunded by at least $12.8 billion over the past 30 years,” said Jonathan Pollock, General Manager of Ocean Prime Tampa.
This is the second year that all 18 Ocean Prime locations have participated in the HBCU Old Fashioned Challenge. Last year, Ocean Prime raised a total of $10,000 which included a match by Uncle Nearest and a donation by Ocean Prime to support the cause.
Ocean Prime is a nationally acclaimed, dynamic seafood and steakhouse from the award- winning Cameron Mitchell Restaurants.
