ORLANDO, FL – I love Korean grocery stores. They go far beyond what many others do and usually have plenty of food options, shops, and a wide selection of food for sale. H Mart finally had their opening on Sept. 25 in Orlando after years of speculation.

The crowds have been punishing with traffic around the area surging and people reporting waiting over 1 hour to enter the store.

UPDATE: It took me 30 minutes to get in. Once inside you can leave the line and explore, ONLY if you don’t need a cart. If you need a cart you stay in the line, I recommend you get the small rolling basket so you can move around easily. It’s very crowded, but people move fast, and so does the staff! Check-out line took about 15 minutes, but felt like less. I recommend you go if you want the deals they have going on, can’t wait, have a tight schedule, or if you’re traveling. Otherwise, wait a month. Yeah I knew it would be bad, but not worse than yesterday. #hmart #orlando #opening

Waiting over an hour to enter a grocery store has to make you wonder if they were anticipating these kinds of crowds. Some people did say the line moved quickly and they managed to get inside after thirty minutes. Certainly, the deals being offered by the store are a big draw as well as the large Asian community in Orlando. Lotte Plaza Market has had a similar surge in Tampa and in Orlando prior to that.

Indeed, there is untapped potential in the market for Asian and international grocery stores in a state craving more than typical groceries.

As for me, I’ll be waiting a few months for those crowds to die down.
