Golden State Warriors announce Lunar New Year Celebrations

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – The 2022 NBA Champion Golden State Warriors have announced upcoming Lunar New Year celebrations, including a free event at Thrive City on Saturday, Jan. 21, along with in-arena activations when the Warriors take on the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday, Jan. 22, at Chase Center.

Additionally, through a collaboration with the Chinese Chamber of Commerce of San Francisco, the Warriors have installed a five-foot-tall rabbit statue in Thrive City for families across the Bay Area to enjoy.

Thrive City will display the rabbit statue now through Monday, Feb. 9, as part of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce of San Francisco’s “Year of the Rabbit on Parade.” The Thrive City rabbit, dubbed the Bravery Rabbit, will be one of five statues on display in San Francisco (the remaining four are located at the Asian Art Museum, in Lakeshore Plaza, at the Rose Pak Station, and in Union Square).

Each of the rabbit statues were designed by local artists and represent a unique cultural meaning displayed in the design elements. After the display period, all the statues will be auctioned off with net proceeds benefitting local nonprofit organizations. For more information, visit chineseparade.com.

As part of Thrive City’s Lunar New Year celebration, which will take place on Jan. 21 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., guests can enjoy an array of activities including a rabbit petting zoo, lantern craft stations, rabbit statue photo ops, balloon artists, surprise giveaways, and more.

The event will also feature a diverse selection of live entertainment, including performances from the Korean Culture Center Urisawe Drum Performance (Korean), Nguyen Dance Company (Vietnamese), and Lion Dance Me (Chinese).

The following day, on Sunday, Jan. 22, the team will commemorate the start of the Lunar New Year as the Warriors face the Brooklyn Nets at 5:30 p.m.

During the game, fans can enjoy a full-building giveaway of red envelopes and in-game performances by Lion Dance Me, Lisa Performing Arts, Thunder Kung Fu, and more. In addition, a limited-edition Lunar New Year shirt will be available at all Warriors Shop locations.

Tickets for the game are still available, while supplies last by visiting Warriors.com.
