Shaq’s fast-casual concept, Big Chicken, is expanding throughout Central Florida and South Florida with at least 40 locations in the works, according to a LinkedIn post from the brand. They hope to have over 200 locations soon. The fast casual was founded by basketball Hall of Famer and celebrated entrepreneur Shaquille O’Neal (Shaq).
Menu items include the Big & Sloppy sandwich, Popcorn chicken, Chicken tenders, Shaq Attack sandwich, Jalapeno slaw, Sweet potato waffle fries, shakes, ice cream sandwiches, and more.
Shaq is no stranger to Florida, visiting Tampa and Orlando regularly for DJ sets as DJ Diesel and, of course, planning with the Orlando Magic in the NBA.
“When we came across Big Chicken and looked into the concept, it became a no-brainer,” said Fred Burgess, principal, co-founder and co-CEO of DMD Ventures.
“At this significant milestone for Big Chicken, we can’t help but reflect on the relationships we’ve built with our incredible franchisees like Fred, Jack and Austin. Each group understands Shaquille’s vision and we’re incredibly lucky to have them onboard for this journey with us,” says Josh Halpern, CEO of Big Chicken
