The first major restaurant industry casualty is Souplantation/Sweet Tomatoes, many more are expected in the future as the restaurant industry is impacted by COVID-19. The Los Angeles Times posted a full story this evening about the closure. The chain has been plagued with troubled finances for years.

The reaction on Twitter was filled with mourning:

RIP to unlimited clam chowder.

One response to “Coronavirus: Souplantion, Sweet Tomatoes fold under pressure”

  1. I expected this for Sweet Tomatoes along with others with the same buffet style dining. So sad!!! Sweet Tomatoes is one of my favorites! Oh how life is changing! I wish they could have gone to a sit down to order type of menu, still offering some of their fresh and delicious choices. Oh boo! So sad!
