Looking for a coffee shop in downtown Tampa while visiting town or doing some business in the area? Tampa’s coffee scene has shifted over time, but new locations continue to open around town. I have some suggestions.

Victory Coffee: This is a neighborhood shop in Channelside that has operated for some time with friendly baristas and Nitro Brew coffee on tap. They have some great breakfast sandwiches as well with delicious Cuban bread. Don’t forget to grab a rewards card for repeat visits. 101 N 12th St, Tampa, FL 33602. victorycoffeetampa.com

Shortwave Coffee: This a chain from up north that has settled into Sparkman Wharf in downtown. Seating can get very crowded, but there are plenty of plugs and free Wi-Fi. The pour overs are great and this place is definitely a true coffee lover’s shop. Recently they have added espresso tonics to the menu (seasonal) as well and they have quality tea. Great place to grind and get some work done and reminds me of Starbucks when it actually was catering more to customers and open later than other options in town. 615 Channelside Dr Suite 106, Tampa, FL 33602. shortwave.coffee

Illy’s Coffee at JW Marriott Tampa Water Street: Nice pours of Italian coffee at the JW with excellent baristas that always have a great attitude. It’s a hotel coffee stands so don’t expect too much, but there is plenty of seating nearby and free Wi-Fi which is great. 510 Water St, Tampa, FL 33602. marriott.com

Market at EDITION Tampa: This is currently one of my favorite places to get coffee in Water Street. The baristas are so friendly and I have really enjoyed connecting with them when grabbing some coffee or tea. There are a few plugs here, free Wi-Fi, and there and they regularly have newspapers to read on the tables. Do not miss their pastries or snacks, both are excellent and are what you expect a 5-star hotel. 500 Channelside Dr., Tampa, FL 33602. editionhotels.com

Flatbread & Butter: This outpost from St. Pete is serving excellent coffee from Bandit in St. Pete. The cafe is very chic and the baristas are nice. It’s a great place to meet a friend or get things done. The food menu is not bad, but definitely has room for improvement and they close a little too early. Nosey Goat Coffee: This shop replaced Caffeine Coffee Roasters in downtown, but the vibe is exactly the same as the shop before it. The lattes are alright and there are a few tables and plugs. It isn’t as busy as some other shops when I have visited. If you live on the west side of downtown it makes more sense. 212 E Cass St, Tampa, FL 33602.
