TAMPA, FL – National Clam Chowder Day is coming on February 25 and you can celebrate the big day with The Pearl in Water Street Tampa at 823 Water St C100, available for lunch and dinner as a starter dish. The American and seafood restaurant is owned by Cameron Mitchell Restaurants and first opened in the Short North Arts District in Columbus, Ohio in 2012 and is featured in the Florida Michelin Guide. Reservations are available on OpenTable and are recommended as they get quite busy on most days.

Clam chowder is believed to have first been introduced in New York by the French to the United States in the 1700s and then gained popularity in Boston in the 1836, according to Eater. The soup is known for its creamy texture and hearty taste. The one at The Pearl has a twist on the soup with chorizo dust and oyster crackers.

Surprisingly this dish can be a little hard to find in town, so I am always happy to go and enjoy one at a restaurant – especially on colder days but really anytime. One of my favorite things is ordering fries and then dipping them in the soup, which I love to do at Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco.

If you’re looking for a local option for National Clam Chowder Day, check out The Pearl. Where do you like to enjoy one?
