• Shin Jung has served the Orlando area since 1993 and reopened after a fire.
  • The banchan and meat cuts are top-quality and remind me of restaurants in Seoul.
  • Shin Jung is not as cheap as some other Korean restaurants in Orlando, but the quality is there.
  • There’s a certain charm here that you will not find elsewhere in Orlando.

ORLANDO, FL – Shin Jung was probably one of the first Korean restaurants I tried in Orlando, long before Korean BBQ places took the town and country by storm and right after I started watching K-Dramas (Hello Princess Hours fans from 2008). After the fire and closure, I didn’t visit for a long time, but I was glad they reopened.

I have recently enjoyed premium KBBQ at Shin Jung with a friend and also just a regular dolsot (hot stone pot bibambap). The first thing to notice at any Korean restaurant when you dine is how is the banchan (side dishes). If the banchan dishes are no good, than the food probably isn’t any good either. When you find yourself continuing to eat the banchan while waiting for your food, it is a good sign and I love the banchan dishes at Shin Jung. Everything tastes homemade and very similar to the way a mom and pop would taste in Seoul.

A good Korean restaurant doesn’t need much ambiance, but it should feel like you’re in a home with most restaurants encouraging family-style dining.

Their Korean BBQ is top-quality, and the price reflects it. Not a bad thing at all. Just come ready to spend and to indulge as the cuts are very fair. They are doing Visit Orlando’s Magical Dining for those interest though. Even though their meat cuts were delicious, any place can do that at the right price point. It’s the dolsot bibambap that convinced me that Shin Jung is a top restaurant worth a deeper look.

The perfect crispy rice on the bottom. The incredible kimchi and toppings and just the right amount of each ingredient and the meat quality in the dish just superb. Paired perfect with the banchan and a fried egg. You really cannot ask for a better dining experience and I was stuffed afterward.

If you haven’t been and find yourself in Mills 50, please do yourself a favor and go. I know I’ll be back soon. Shin Jung isn’t reinventing the wheel, but doing everything right that makes a restaurant last generations.
