Cirque du Soleil BAZZAR coming soon to St. Petersburg’s Tropicana Field

ST. PETERSBURG, FL – Get excited because Cirque du Soleil is finally making its return to Florida’s St. Petersburg and Tampa Bay region this year with the debut of BAZZAR, a high-energy show featuring acrobatics, stunts and truly unique performances that pays homage to the entertainment company’s long-running legacy. The show is the fourth stop on the tour and will be presented at the Tropicana Field stadium under the iconic Big Top from Feb. 22 to March 24, 2024.

Guests will enjoy a joyful troupe of acrobats, dancers and musicians craft and be transported to a different universe. This “bazaar” awaits all attendees to enjoy creative and inspiring performances. The show invites the audience to follow along for the story being told by performers.

The high-energy excitement, collision of sounds and colors, and meeting place of
diverse characters you’d find at a traditional “bazaar” have inspired the name of the show. BAZZAR captures that spirit.

BAZZAR originally launched in 2018 and first toured in India and the Middle East. Then in September 2022 the show relaunched, touring first in Brazil and then other parts of South America before coming to the U.S. The show features an international cast of 35 performers and musicians, including teeterboard, acrobatic bike, contortion, duo roller skate, duo trapeze, aerial rope, hair suspension, fire manipulation, slackline, and, for the first time in Cirque du Soleil history, Mallakhamb – a traditional Indian sport where a gymnast performs aerial yoga postures and wrestling grips in concert with a vertical stationary or hanging wooden pole.

Tickets are available to Cirque du Soleil BAZZAR online at cirquedusoleil.com/bazzar.

The Florida Cane Distillery shutting down Ybor tasting room after tourism decline, shootings

TAMPA, FL – Florida Cane Distillery is shutting down its Ybor City tasting room at 1820 N 15th St. The announcement, which was made on social media, comes as businesses in Ybor City suffer from decreased foot traffic after a Halloween shooting spooked locals and led to a rapid decline in business in the area. The business also blamed falling tourism in the Sunshine State. The shutdown could be the beginning of more to come without action from leaders.

This will be the last weekend of business for the distillery tasting room in Ybor City which was in operation for over a decade. The final hours will be Thursday, Jan. 11, from noon to 10 p.m., Friday, Jan. 12, from noon to 10 p.m., and Saturday, Jan. 13, from noon to 10 p.m.

A statement from the distillery on Facebook reads: “It’s with heavy heart that we have made the decision to close our Tasting Room here in Ybor City. The constant decline in Florida Tourism, coupled with the closing of so many other Ybor music venues/bars/restaurants and the recent shootings have pushed us to this decision. This weekend will be your last chance to buy directly from us in our Tasting Room. From the bottom of our hearts we thank you all for supporting us these past 12 years. Although we are saddened by having to close to the public it’s been such a great joy to host all of you in our tasting room, on our behind-the-scenes tours, and hands-on whiskey classes – this was only possible because of your loyal support. Thank you!”

Florida Cane and its owners have been major players in helping to relax Florida’s distillery laws and faced an uphill climb since creating their business. Products from the distillery are now in over 100 businesses including restaurants, amusement parks, and liquor stores throughout the state.

Caffeine Roasters now open on Kennedy in South Tampa

Caffeine Roasters has moved into where Drama Burger once stood at 2420 West Kennedy Boulevard and is now open. Caffeine is also located in Downtown Tampa minutes from Franklin Manor at 212 East Cass Street. I am a fan of the Downtown location and also really enjoy the new space as well.

The expansion mirrors an expansion happening with many of the new coffee shop brands taking on Buddy Brew Coffee and Kahwa locally.

The menu is the same at both locations and the space has lots of seating from couches to tables and plugs and Wi-Fi available. The only downside of the new location on Kennedy is lack of parking – the place has only been open for a few weeks and parking already sucks.

On the positive side, they have a drive-thru so you can take your coffee with you if you can’t find parking.

The staff is very friendly and happy to explain the types of coffee they provide and the background of what they are doing – that was also noticeable when I visited the Downtown Tampa location in the past as well.

Last but most certainly not least, their coffee tastes great – I had an El Salvador roast during my visit and fully enjoyed it without hardly any sweeteners or add-ons. Check out Caffeine Roasters!
