Florida State Fair 2020: New food to try this year

The Florida State Fair 2020 is in full swing now until Monday, February 17th. There are plenty of new foods that people can try as usual. Here are some of the new featured items this year:

Peanut Butter Ramen Burger at the Florida State Fair.

Peanut Butter Ramen Burger: As if ramen burger wasn’t enough of a stretch, Carousel Foods has added a peanut butter Asian vinaigrette to their burger.

The Smores Doughnut at Florida State Fair in Tampa, Florida.

The Smores Doughnut: Peachey’s Baking Co. is the best food every year at the Florida State Fair and a must-try. They have now added an Amish doughnut filled with marshmallow creme, topped with a melted dutch chocolate drizzle and a torched marshmallow

Cheeseburger On-A-Stick at Florida State Fair

Cheeseburger On-A-Stick: It’s a fair tradition to throw something on a stick. Something unconventional. This year  DeAnna’s Diner has deep-fried an Angus burger patty inside a secret batter with cheddar cheese drizzled on top.

Cheesy Sriracha Funnel Bites: Funnel cakes and sriracha? Only the fair would make this combination happen. Find this combo at Out of this World Funnel Cakes.

Piña Colada Candy Apple at Florida State Fair.

Piña Colada Candy Apple: Are you even in Florida if you don’t enjoy a Piña Colada every once in awhile? The Apple Cart is serving up candy apples flavored with Piña Colada flavoring. Coconut topping can be added.

This year the Florida State Fair is having a Fair Foodie Crawl for the first time for $25 on February 13th after 5PM.

Participants will choose samples from a menu of vendors, sampling everything from savory to sweet foods. At the end, participants can vote on their favorites and crown the top vendor of the entire Fair Foodie Crawl. Registration is available online.

The joy of Peachey’s Baking Co. at Florida State Fair

One of the best reasons to look forward to the Florida State Fair and fair season is Peachey’s Baking Co. (known in the past as Amish Baking Co.). They made my list for 7 items to check out for Florida State Fair 2019. The donuts and pretzels at their stand are just incredible.

Rolling Stone claims Peachey’s Baking Co. donuts puts Krispy Kreme to shame and I completely agree. Owners, Sadie and Nate Peachey, are truly masters at the art of making donuts and pretzels. The dough is so soft and tasty. It just melts in your mouth.

They started off as a food truck in Sarasota, Florida and now travel around to festivals around the country.

Carlos Eats team member, James Thach, went out to meet with the owners and shoot some content that will make you hungry.

Tampa Bay Blogger Shoutouts

Here’s what I’ve been reading about lately on Tampa Bay blogs:

Dena Loves Food is loving Banh Mi Saigon Cafe in St. Petersburg. I love banh mi! Check out her post for more.

Tampa Bay Bites reviews the new St. Petersburg Taco Bus. Taco Bus has had the buzz all week, opening their new location on Valentines Day. I plan to visit during my next visit to St. Petersburg and see how the St. Pete bus fares against the Tampa bus. Love the fact that authentic Mexican cuisine is spreading around the area. Once Tampa Bay was exposed, everyone was instantly hooked.

Inkwatu visited the Queen of Sheba, an Ethiopian restaurant in Tampa. This restaurant has been on my list for some time, I don’t think I have ever really tasted African food. Queen of Sheba is quite popular online and according to Inkwatu, I have to stop delaying this visit and make my trip there.

Re/Creating Tampa highlights some political blogs in Tampa with useful commentaries.

Tampa Bay Food Monster visited the Florida State Fair recently. I did as well (look for my post soon!). He tries fried pickles and oreos, something I am just not adventurous enough to do. He also had fried butter, red velvet funnel cake, and a Krispy Kreme donut burger. I commend him on his adventurous spirit and willingness to sacrifice a few years of his life for a food adventure.

Zest Florida Foodie reviews Bianchi’s Enoteca on her food blog, adding another restaurant to my to-do list.
